1861 WINFIELD SCOTT BALTIMORE RIOTS Medal NGC MS63 “One Flag, One Country” RARE!
This is an original white metal medallion, Civil War Era. High relief. 2.5″ (64mm) diameter, 3.8oz (110 grams) weight, nearly 1/4″ thick. Housed in a slab that’s 4.75″ wide, 6.5″ tall and 0.75″ thick. Please see our photos for details. An extremely rare piece.
White metal, obverse is shiny surfaces, nearly proof-like. Obverse features high relief image of Winfield Scott, with the names of the designers raised on the edge of Scott’s lower shoulder: “C.G. Quilfeldt & J. Lebreton”.
Reverse center shows a large federal shield draped with ribbon reading “E Pluribus Unum.” Surrounding this are circles of stars and text reading “All Hail To The Stars And Stripes! One Flag, One Country, One Constitution, One Destiny. April 19. 1775. Liberty. April 19, 1861. Union.” A small ribbon white “Red White & Blue” appears through the target text about 6′. Small text along the rim edge is “Entered According To Act Of Congress In The Year 1861 By D.E. Hall In The Clerks Office Of The District Court For The Southern District Of New York.”
