Per J. Doyle Dewitt: “These pieces were issued by the New York firm of Henning & Eymann at seventy-five cents in copper and twenty-five cents in white metal. As such, they were struck for distribution in the campaign. The copies in silver, bronze, brass and lead, usually found on a thicker flan, were probably struck for sale to collectors”Â
Obverse: “Abraham Lincoln” around beardless bust, right facing. Microscopic “Henning & Eymann. N.Y.” under bust.
Reverse: “Republicans Candidate for Sixteenth President of the United States.” inside wreath.
